MEDICAL CAMP KITS RECEIVED FROM WORLD HEALTH
ORGANIZATION, 14 AUGUST 2018
Ministry of Health received two sets of (MCKs) from World Health Organization today. MCKs are sets of ready-to-use equipment, including tents, furniture, basic medical equipment, sanitation facilities, electrical supplies and water connections which can be set up to supplement or help replace damaged health facilities during emergencies, or to set up a temporary primary health facility in a remote place without health services. One MCK consists of male and female wards, a maternity room, a consultation room, staff quarters and storage facilities.
Until now, the Ministry has received 7 MCKs in total including the two sets being handed over today. The MCKs received earlier were distributed to the following health facilities:
1. Jigme Dorji Wangchuck National Referral Hospital, Thimphu
2. Eastern Regional Referral Hospital, Mongar
3. Central Regional Referral Hospital, Gelephu
4. Tashigang District Hospital
5. Trashi Yangtse District Hospital
The Ministry will distribute these two new sets MCKs to the health facilities after careful assessment of the needs.
Besides the support in providing the MCKs, WHO has also been supporting Ministry of Health both financially and technically in conducting MCK installation training. Such trainings were conducted for JDWNRH in Thimphu in November 2016 and for Eastern Regional Referral Hospital, Mongar in November 2017. We plan to
conduct to similar training for Central Regional Referral Hospital, Gelephu in November this year.
