In endeavours to strengthen health emergency management and delivery of uniform emergency medical care services in the country, the Emergency Medical Services Division (EMSD) under Ministry of Health (MoH) with its stakeholders has embarked a journey in standardizing all short courses related to emergency medical care. The stakeholders include Khesar Gyalpo University of Medical Sciences of Bhutan (KGUMSB), Jigme Dorji Wangchuck National Referral Hospital (JDWNRH) and Bhutan Medical & Health Council (BMHC).
The main objective of the course outline is to serve as a guide and a standard for all stakeholders in the country seeking to train health professionals and others in emergency medical care including first aid to advanced life support courses. Following are the some of the courses that the Technical Working Group (TWG) members has been working on:
- First Aid
- Basic Life Support
- Basic Trauma Life Support
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support
- Advanced Trauma Life Support
- Neonatal Advanced Life Support
- Point of care Ultrasound (POCUS)
- Early Essential Newborn Care (EENC)=Neonatal Basic Life Support
Once these courses are endorsed/approved by MoH & BMHC, all stakeholders in the country has to adhere these standard course outlines.
