Consultative Workshop with the Local Leaders, Multi-Sectoral Task Force (MSTF) and Community Based Support System (CBSS) members of Eastern Bhutan on Priority Public Health and Social Issues

In line with the National Health Promotion Strategic Plan 2015-2023, Health Promotion Division, Department of Public Health, Ministry of Health organized consultative workshop on priority public health and social issues with the Dzongkhag Tshogdue Thrizins, Gewog Administrative Officer (GAO), District Planning Officers, MSTF and CBSS members of Eastern Dzongkhags (Lhuntse, Mongar, Pemagatshel, Samdrup Jongkhar, Trashigang and Trashiyangtse)

from 12-14 December 2016. The meeting was an integrated and collaborative approach between the Ministry of health and RENEW in mainstreaming health promoting activities at community level.

Local leaders

The workshop was organized with following objectives:

General Objective:

  • To strengthen & foster Local Government collaboration and partnership in mainstreaming health promoting activities, MSTF and CBSS activities into local government plans.

Specific Objectives:

  • To identify and prioritize district specific priority public health /social issues
  • To develop sustainable district/Gewog/Chiwog level health promotion action plan
  • To reduce program duplication and resource inefficiencies

Outcome of the workshop

The participants identified and prioritized  public health/social issues in their respective dzongkhags. The six Dzongkhags deliberated on the issues  and   came up with costed health promotion action plan as a measure to combat priority public health and social issues. The participating Dzongkhags will further deliberate and prioritize issues with Gups and Mangmis at Geowg and Chiwog level.
