The groundbreaking ceremony of the construction of 20 Bedded Haa Dzongkhag Hospital was administered by Dzongkhag Rabdey Lam Neten on 14th November 2015. The ceremony was attended by the Member of Parliament, senior government officials, Loca leaders and community people.
Although, the construction of the hospital was envisaged in 10th Five Year Plan, it could not be materialized due to the difficulty in indentifying a suitable location and budgetary constraints.
However, due to the gracious generosity of His Majesty the King, the present site sprawling over an area of 1.53 acres, which primarily served as the Royal Guest House was granted for the construction of the Hospital. The Hospital construction is fully financed by the Royal Government of Bhutan at the estimated cost of Nu. 159 million.

This Hospital will cater to the total population of 11,441 people in Haa Dzongkhag and will not only augment the existing one BHU Grade I, 4 BHU Grade II and 17 ORCs providing health care services to the people under 6 Gewogs, & 14 Chiwogs but also serve as the referral point for other surrounding health centers in the Dzongkhag.

After the completion of the Hospital, it is expected that the cases of referral to the Paro Hospital and JDWNRH, Thimphu would diminish and reduce the dependence on other health facilities. It would also benefit the people in not having to face difficulties of travelling all the way to Paro and Thimphu incurring lots of expenditure.
Upon the completion, the Hospital will be staffed with minimum of 2 Doctors with additional required specialty services and will have other services including laboratory and diagnostic services in line with the standing policies and service standards of the Ministry of Health.
The interesting feature of this Hospital is that it will also be used for training health workers, tourist guides and even tourists on acclimatization of high altitude mountain sickness during the winter.
The Ministry of Health join the people of Haa in expressing gratitude to His Majesty for granting the land for the Construction of the Hospital. We also like to thank His Excellency Lyonchen Tshering Tobgay for expediting the process and enabling us to embark on this hospital construction project after long awaited anticipation. May people of Haa be Healthy, Wealthy and Happy!
