The Ministry of Health has detected 22 new HIV cases (10 males and 12 females) between June to November 2017. Among the new cases 36% each are housewives and farmers, 14% drivers, 9% civil servants and 5% unemployed groups. The majority (95%) of them are between the ages of 20-49 and 5% above 50 years. Among the 22 new cases, 27% were detected through medical screening, 23% each through voluntary counseling and testing (VCT), Antenatal Care (ANC) and contact tracing whereas 4% through the mobile screening. In terms of route of transmission, all of them have acquired the infection through unprotected heterosexual route. With this the total cases detected in 2017 (until November) is 55.

Family planning is not just restriction of number of children but it has linked to all MDG goals and SDG goals. Therefore, RH Program with fund support from WHO conducted training of Health workers on revised family planning standard for western and central region . A total of 29 HA from central region from 23-25 October were trained and a total of 29 HA from western region were trained from 23-25 November,2017. The training for eastern region will begin from 4-6 December,2017.
