Four days of training on Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) was conducted at Central Regional Referral Hospital, Gelephu from 28th -31st March 2019. The training was attended by 12 Doctors and 17 Nurses including Nurse Anesthetist and Emergency Medical Response Officers from different health favilities in the country.
During the four days training, the participants were trained through comprehensive theoretical and practical sessions. Some of the major topics covered were; High quality Basic Life Support, Management of Respiratory Emergencies, Management of Shock Emergencies, Management of Arrhythmias and electrical disturbances, Post-Cardiac Arrest Care, ACLS and PALS Medication and Coping with Death.
The training was conducted by Emergency Medical Services Division under Department of Medical Services of Ministry of Health, wifh technical support from the specialists from Jigme Dorji Wangchuck National Referral Hospital, Central Regional Referral Hospital and Lungtenphu Military Hospital. This training is expected to enhance the knowledge and skills of health professionals in delivering effective basic life support with advanced cardiovascular life support interventions; and the importance of effective team interaction and communication during resuscitation.
