A certificate of appreciation was presented to the Royal Government of Bhutan, and, in particular, the contribution of H.E. Lyonpo Tandin Wangchuk, Minister of Health by the World Health Organisation for the commitment and efforts made to have successfully eliminated maternal and neonatal tetanus.
The award ceremony was held on 6th September 2016 at the sidelines of the 69th Regional Committee of the WHO South East Asia Region, Colombo, Sri Lanka. Mr Dorjee Tshering, Director General, Department of Traditional Medicine, Ministry of Health received the award on behalf of the Royal Government and H.E. the Health Minister.
The 69th Regional Committee, which began on 5th Spetember 2016 would conclude on 9th September 2016. The next 3 days would deliberate on, besides a number of policy and technical issues, the Colombo Declaration on Strengthening health systems to accelerate delivery of NCD services at the primary healthcare level.
